Edward SZCZEPANIK Obituary

SZCZEPANIK, Edward F. Edward F. Szczepanik, 91, of New Britain, CT, died Thursday, (January 28, 2010) at the Hospital of Central CT at New Britain General. Edward was born in New Britain, CT, and was the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Dobek) Szczepanik. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Polish Falcons, New Britain, CT. Edward was a General Superintendent of the Small Bearing Division at Fafnir Bearing; retiring after 40 years of service and he served as Chairman of New Britain Housing Authority for 35 years. Eddy was an avid sportsman who enjoyed watching sports, taking small trips with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He especially enjoyed times spent at the summer cottage at Old Lyme. Ed is survived by his two sons, Edward L. Szczepanik of Port St. Joe, Florida, and Lawrence E. Szczepanik of Berlin, CT; his brother, Henry Szczepanik of New Britain, CT; his grandsons, Ken, Chris, Ed and Jason Szczepanik and his granddaughters, Lauren, Ashley and Jessica Szczepanik. Edward was predeceased by his wife, Sophie and his brother, Joseph Szczepanik. Funeral rites for Edward will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 8:30 a.m., with the procession departing at 9 a.m., from the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at Holy Cross Church, Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burritt St., New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, Monday, from 5-7 p.m. Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West - Exit 37 (Fienemann Road) Right off exit - one mile down on right.
