DEVINE, Robert F. Robert F. "Bob" Devine, 88, beloved husband of Eileen (Halligan) Devine, died at his home Wednesday (March 24, 2010). Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late William J. and Mary (Burke) Devine. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna Devine Lewis; and his three brothers, Raymond, William and Joseph Devine. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Eileen, of 63 years; his four children, Sharon Burke and her husband, Dennis, of Glastonbury, Susan Dick and her husband, Michael, of Rutland, VT, Robert Devine of S. Windsor, Maribeth Hatheway and her husband, Charlie, of Elliot, ME; as well as eight grandchildren, Sarah Dick, Joseph Hatheway, Laura Dick Babcock and her husband, Triston, Jessica Burke Walsh and her husband Brett, Gregory Hatheway, Michael Burke, Lindsey Dick and Jeffrey Hatheway; as well as his one year old great-granddaughter, Kayla Anne Walsh; his friend, "Duke" Buckley; and many nieces and nephews. He shared their many accomplishments and participated fully in their lives. He was a World War II Vet serving three years in the South Pacific with the Army Air Signal Corp. He was employed by the CT Transit Co. for 38 years. He was a member of the South Windsor American Legion and the St. Francis of Assisi Church Men's Club. He loved his family, his many friends and was always there to help others. His favorite pastime was going to the beach especially Martha's Vineyard. We will miss his kindness his smile and his sense of humor. Calling hours will be at the Dillon-Baxter Funeral home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, on Friday, March 26, from 5–8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home starting at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 27, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Rd., S. Windsor. Burial will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery, 17 Wickham Rd., Glastonbury. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice or St. Francis of Assisi Church.
