Obituary Condolences

HAYES, Robert Robert "Bob" Hayes, 75, of Enfield loving husband of Shirley (Green) Hayes passed away on Wednesday, (June 9, 2010), at Hartford Hospital. Bob was born September 8, 1934, in Hartford, CT the son of the late Charles Michael and Mary Loretta (Hines) Hayes. Robert proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic for over 30 years and retired in 1999 from the State of CT Dept. of Transportation where he was employed as a bus driver for 10 years. Bob was a Cub Scout leader when his children were younger, an avid fisherman who especially loved fishing in Maine, and a loyal Boston Red Sox fan. He was a member of Tanguay-Magill American Legion Post # 80 of Enfield and a parishioner of Holy Family Church. In addition to his wife, Shirley whom he was married 51 years he is survived by five children, Robert Hayes, Jr. and his wife Patricia of South Hampton, MA, Kathleen Hayes of Suffield, CT, Richard Hayes and his companion Alby Alexander of Windsor, CT, Maureen Hayes of Enfield, Jonathan Hayes and his wife, Kristen of Huntersville, NC; two brothers, Raymond Hayes and his wife Dorothy of New Britain, CT, and Lawrence Hayes of Norwich, CT. Robert is also survived by his grandchildren, a special granddaughter, Amanda Hayes, Jessica and Robert Hayes, III, David and Jason Hartwig, Jordan, Chelsea, Ryan, and Caylin Hayes; four great-grandchildren; his four legged friend Louie. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Monday, June 14, 2010, from 9-11 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield with a funeral procession gathering at 11 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Military honors will be presented at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
