Obituary Condolences

DENGES, Donald J. Donald J. Denges, husband of Maureen, died on January 2, 2011. Despite the best medical care and a fierce determination Don could not overcome the ravaging effects of leukemia. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, attended Michigan State College, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He started his business career in Cincinnati with The Hartford and later transferred to their Home Office where he was elected Assistant Secretary of then ITT/Hartford in 1980, a position he held until his retirement. His early retirement allowed him the privilege of sharing in the lives of his grandchildren. "Puppa" held a special place in his heart for them, as they did for him. Don also devoted many hours to caring for others in need and using his creative talents as a volunteer at the New England Air Museum. In addition to his wife, Don leaves his most beloved and devoted children and their families; Kimberly Habberstad and her daughter Alyssa of Minnesota, Jennifer and James C. Larwood and their children Caitlin, Connor and Cameron of Simsbury, Donald Denges, Jr. of New York, Colleen and Alan Stabler of Alabama, Drew and Mary Denges and their children, Taylor and Lauren of Simsbury. Don is also survived by his brothers G. James Denges and Jerry A. Denges and their families of Cincinnati. According to Don's wishes all funeral arrangements were private. The family invites their friends to join them in honoring Don's memory on Thursday, (January 6th) from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Avon Old Farms Hotel, 279 Avon Mountain Rd., Avon. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the New England Air Museum. For online condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
