Obituary Condolences

SIMPSON, Ralph E. Ralph Edward Simpson, 89, of Bloomfield, formerly of South Windsor, husband of the late Alma (Russell) Simpson, died peacefully on Monday (January 24, 2011) at a local convalescent home, surrounded by his family. Born on September 7, 1921 in Brownsville, PA, he was the son of the late Miller D. and Alma V. (Scott) Simpson. Ralph was a graduate of Brownsville High School; where he excelled in track and football and went on to serve our country during World War II with the U.S. Army. He worked for McCook Hospital in Hartford for many years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 33 years of service. Ralph loved music, dancing, and spending time by the water. A kind sweet hearted father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend he will be greatly missed by all. He leaves his children, Barbara Duncan and Ralph Duncan of East Hartford, Barbara Lowe of FL, and Mr and Mrs. Aaron West of Bloomfield, his sister, Florence Nicholas of Windsor, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in Connecticut and Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his daughter Lavonne Simpson and brothers, Wendall and Charles Simpson and his sister, Alma Jean Jones. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will be private at the request of his family.
