Renato OMICIOLI Obituary
OMICIOLI, Renato Renato "Babe" Omicioli, 78, of East Hartford, passed away at his home, Monday, (February 14, 2011.) He was the son of the late Renato Sr. and Maria (Sardi) Omicioli. He was the husband of Ann (McGowan) Omicioli. Renato served in the 9th infantry, as a chauffeur to a Colonel during the Korean War era. He was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ where he married his wife, Ann in 1953. He was a long time member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, locals 671 and 404. He was employed by Lombard Brothers and North Penn Trucking for over 30 years. "Babe" will be remembered as hard working and as a good provider for his family. He cherished his granddaughter Kim and the time they spent together. He enjoyed auto racing, the Red Sox, UCONN basketball and cruising in his 1968 Torino. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling jokes. Besides his wife, Ann, of 58 years, he is survived by his son, Stephen Omicioli and his wife Shirley of Tolland; his granddaughter, Kimberly Omicioli of Ashford; his sister in-law, Theresa Lapenta and her husband Joseph of East Hartford and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Bianca and his brothers, Erando and Ralph. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. 06108 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Isaac Jogues Parish, 73 Cannon Road, East Hartford, CT. 06108. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Hartford with full Military Honors. Calling hours will be Thursday, February 17th, from 4-7 p.m., at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home.
