Obituary Condolences

CAPLICE, Jane "Pat" McClure Jane "Pat" (McClure) Caplice, 77, of Williamsburg, VA passed away on March 13, 2011. Pat was a devoted wife and mother of five. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late George and Lucile McClure. She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1955. Pat married Mike, her husband of 55 years, on March 3, 1956. After living in Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey and Michigan, Pat and Mike moved to Simsbury, CT where they lived for 23 years. While living in Connecticut, Pat, in addition to raising five children, devoted many years to the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurses Association where she specialized in the care of hospice patients. In 1995, Pat and Mike retired to Williamsburg, VA. In addition to being an avid reader, knitter and collector of friends, Pat spent much of her time volunteering in the community. She volunteered at both Olde Towne Medical Center and FISH. Pat was an active member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she served on the Board of the Methodist Women's Association and was a member of the Mary Lou Clarke-Heritage Circle and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Pat was an active participant and volunteer in the Christopher Wren Association and the Elderhostel Organization Pat had a deep love for Chautauqua Institution (NY). It was at Chautauqua where, since childhood, she spent many summers, met her husband and enjoyed numerous family reunions. Pat is survived by her husband, Mike, and their five children, Ruth Ann Caplice of Richmond, VA, John Caplice and his wife Margie of Richmond, VA, Colleen Donahue and her husband Terry of Avon, CT, Chris Caplice and his wife Kristin of Boston, MA, and Sean Caplice and his wife Lynette of Hillsborough, CA. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Tyler, Casey and Jenna Donahue of Avon, CT and Ella Jane Caplice of Hillsborough, CA. Pat is also survived by three brothers, Sam McClure and his wife Ann, George McClure and his wife Lynne and Walter McClure and his wife Nancy, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 19th at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg. The family will receive friends at a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Williamsburg, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, VA 23188; the Williamsburg United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 500 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185; or the Heritage Humane Society, 430 Waller Mill Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
