Stephen Harris SACK Obituary
SACK, Stephen Harris Stephen Harris Sack, age 76, of West Hartford, died Thursday, (April 14, 2011) after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband for 25 years of Gail K. Sack. Born in West Hartford, he was the son of the late Samuel and Rena (Feinberg) Sack. He was a graduate of Wilbraham Munson Academy in Massachusetts and the Wharton School of Business in Pennsylvania. He was a US Army veteran. Stephen was the fourth generation in the petroleum industry as owner/operator of Sack Distributors in Hartford. Stephen was a Board member of the ICPA and received numerous professional awards. He was a fourth generation member of Congregation Beth Israel and served on its Board. Stephen was a Board member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and has been a philanthropist for Federations around the world. He and Gail travelled on numerous humanitarian missions. Besides his devoted wife Gail, he is survived by his daughter, Susan L. Sack of New York City, son, Stephen Sack Jr. and his wife Karen of West Hartford; a brother Edward Sack and his wife Gloria of Madison; four grandchildren: Clayton, Emma, Grady and Lila Margaret; and a nephew David Sack and his wife Suzanne. He was predeceased by a nephew John Sack. Stephen's dog, Molly, was the love of his life over the past nine years. A funeral will be held in the main sanctuary of Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating, TODAY at 1 P.M. Interment will follow at the Beth Israel Cemetery, corner of Ward and Affleck St. in Hartford. Following interment the family will receive friends at Stephen and Gail's home and then again on Sunday 2- 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 P.M. with a service at 7:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Hebrew Health Care, Congregation Beth Israel, Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford or Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses and aides at the hospital and sub-acute care of Hebrew Health Care.
