DUBA, Francis T. (Frank)
Francis T. (Frank) Duba, of 869 Hill Road, husband of the late Jane B. (Burke) Duba, died Monday, (June 6, 2011). He was born in St. Louis, MO, on May 10, 1925, son of the late Charles and Mathilda Duba. Frank served in World War II in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force and retired in 1968 with twenty-five years of service. During his time in the Navy, he served on the USS Nautilus and remained a Plankowner until his death. Frank worked for The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co. for twenty years and retired in 1988. He was a member of the Nautilus Alumni Association, Submarine Veterans of WWII, Holland Club and Sub Vets Inc., of Groton. Frank is survived by a son; Tom and his wife Mary, of Harwinton, a sister; Virginia Summers of St. Louis, a brother-in-law; Francis Burke, two sister-in-laws; Annie Duba and Dorothea Duba, a step-brother; Joe Herzog, six grandchildren; Frank, Elizabeth, Michael, Jacqueline, Katherine and Brianna, all who reside in Harwinton and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers; Charles, Joseph and Donald Duba and his sister; Mary Ann Murphy. The grandchildren were the joy of his life in trying to assist them in the normal every day conditions.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, (June 10, 2011), at 3 p.m., at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main Street, Thomaston, CT. Military Honors will be held immediately following the mass. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect Street, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
