George A. GLETZAKOS Obituary

George A. Gletzakos, 40, of East Hartford, CT beloved son and brother passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2011. Born in Athens, Greece on October 15, 1970, George grew up in East Hartford and Torrington, CT. He was the son of Agisilaos "Ike" (deceased) and Stella Gletzakos. He leaves behind his mother Stella, his brother Peter and his wife Mandy and his brother and best friend Konstatine "Dino" Gletzakos, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. George graduated Torrington High School in 1988 and the Morse School of Business with a degree in Hotel and Business Management. He was a graduate of the Connecticut Bartending Academy and a Licensed Real Estate Agent and Broker. During his life George had many accomplishments; besides being fluent in Greek, and having served in the Greek Military, he was the head Chef and Owner of South End Two Guys Pizza in Torrington, CT, as well as Co-Owner of 36 Lewis St restaurant/nightclub in Hartford CT. George worked as a Realtor for Century 21 of East Hartford and Anne Miller Realty of Manchester CT. Currently he was the Broker/Owner of Parthenon Real Estate LLC., in West Hartford, CT. George had too many interests to list but he was an avid poker and backgammon player, an accomplished marksman and considered himself an "expert" UNO player; and even though those of us who continuously lost to him never admitted it, we give credit, where credit is due. Much to the chagrin of his mother who wanted him to settle down George was quite a ladies man and leaves behind many broken hearts, his philosophy being there was only so much of him to go around and he didn't want any beautiful woman suffering if he were to get married and come off the "market". George was a devoted son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend who will be revered for the fondness and love he showed people; especially his uncle Theodoros Bouris who he considered second father, his beloved cousin Georgia who he viewed as a little sister and his friend Darcy McIntire who he constantly referred to as his third brother. George was a member of the Connecticut Real Estate Association, a member of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce and a member of St. Georges Church in Hartford, Ct. He will be remembered for his warm smile, quiet disposition, patience, loyalty and selflessness. He was a great son, a loving brother and a true friend to all. He will be missed. May God Bless his soul. The family would like to thank the cardiology unit at Hartford Hospital for all their efforts and compassion.
