Nancy WRIGHT Obituary

Nancy Kneeland Wright, wife of Roger Wright of Charlestown, Rhode Island, formerly of West Simsbury, died unexpectedly on July 28, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. She was born January 29, 1943 in Holyoke, MA, daughter of Edward and Mary (O'Leary) Kneeland. She was a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, and held a Master of Public Health Services Administration from Yale University School of Medicine. Nancy had a distinguished career in the field of Health Care Administration, having held positions at several nursing and rehabilitation facilities and with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health. She was affiliated for many years with the McLean Health Center in Simsbury, Connecticut, initially as Director the McLean Village, and for the last several years prior to her retirement in 2010, as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of the McLean Fund. She was active in many professional and volunteer organizations, and was the recipient of numerous awards and honors which included; the Distinguished Service Award of the Connecticut Association of Not-for-Profit Providers for the Aging, the Distinguished Administrator of the Year of National Health Care Associates, and the Outstanding Managerial Award of the State of Connecticut. In addition to her husband of nearly 50 years, Nancy is survived by her mother, Mary Kneeland, of Atlantic Beach, FL; her son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Sherise Wright of Amherst, NH, her daughter, Julie Wright of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Devon and Macaela Wright of Amherst, NH; her sister, Susan Kneeland Licht and her husband Peter of Newtown ; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Doug Dunbar of Yorkshire, England; nephew Christopher Licht and his wife Jenny of New York City, niece Stephanie Hatherley and her husband Scott of Hopkinton, MA; and several grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Nancy was a kind, gracious, intelligent and loving person whose passing will leave a void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Funeral arrangements are private. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Nancy's life on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 3-5 p.m. at The Cove Restaurant, 3963 Old Post Road, Charlestown, Rhode Island. In addition, there will be a memorial gathering at McLean Health Center chapel at 2:30 p.m. on Monday August 29, 2011.
