FREEMAN, Grace Catherine
Grace Catherine "Cookie" Freeman, 69, of Suffield, beloved wife of Carl Freeman Jr, died peacefully on Tuesday, (September 6, 2011), at Hartford Hospital after a long illness. Born on September 3, 1942 in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Corrine Johnson. Cookie grew up in Suffield and was a graduate of Suffield High School with the Class of 1960. She worked for over 26 years for the U.S. Postal Service. Cookie was a member of the Crossroads Community Cathedral in East Hartford, where she was a greeter and sang with the mass choir. She was creative and enjoyed gardening, making porcelain dolls and sewing various things such as pajamas, doll clothing and comforters. She also enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Quilter's Guild in Enfield. A kind, caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all. Along with her husband Carl of over 27 years, she leaves her children, Dr. Jeremiah Brown Jr. and his wife Kelly of San Antonio, TX, Michele Brown-Quinn of Suffield and Erika Rozza and her husband William of Hartford, seven grandchildren, Aaron, Sierra, Spencer, Sawyer, Connor, Joshua and Jacob and a great grandchild, Josiah. She was predeceased by her Aunts, Mildred Treadwell, Grace Albright, Daisy Winston and Lena Sprague, Uncles, Richard Johnson, William Johnson, Jack Johnson and Philip R. Johnson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, (September 17, 2011), 10 a.m. at the Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford, CT. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, East Granby, CT. Her family will receive friends on Friday, (September 16, 2011), from 5-8 p.m. at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St., (Rt. 159) Suffield, CT.
