PLATEK, Janet Patricia

Janet Patricia Platek, 68, a lifelong resident of Kensington, widow of Edward Platek, succumbed to a short battle with cancer Monday at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born in New Britain, daughter of the late Gene and the late Virginia (Pampuro) Genest, she graduated from Berlin High School, was employed at Morande Ford for 30 years, and was a member of St. Paul Church in Kensington. She is survived by a son, Scott Platek; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Susanne Rybczyk and Rick Aldridge of West Lebanon, New Hampshire, Sharon Genest of Cape Coral, FL, Carol and Grant Gould of Madison, and Joanne and David Marcelli of Kensington; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Gene Joseph Genest.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday at 10 a.m. directly at St. Paul's Church on Alling Street. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
