POLLARD, Shirley L.

Shirley L. Pollard, of South Windsor, Formally of Glastonbury, beloved wife of 49 years, the late Phillip J. Pollard entered eternal life peacefully by God's graciousness and the helping hands of his Angels on Friday (October 14, 2011) in her 75th year, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 4, 1936 in Berlin NH, daughter of the late Medard and Diana (Garneau) Lettre. Shirley co-owned Pollard Fuel Co. of Glastonbury for over forty years with her husband; she also was the Cafeteria Manager at Buttonball School, for many years. Shirley leaves three children; Keith Pollard and his wife Sue of Enfield; Darlene and Craig Ladabouche of Marlborough and Denise and Donald Bombard of Coventry; five grandchildren and their spouses, Craig Pollard of Fort Bliss, TX, Monica Pollard Carlson of Essex, Jessica Ladabouche Caruso of Agawam, MA, Kevin Ladabouche of Vernon and Sarah Bombard Trudeau of Coventry; three step grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie Tarascio of CA, Sabrina Stanhope of Somers and Savannah Tarascio of East Windsor; seven step great grandchildren. In addition, Shirley also leaves a Sister Joan L. Toper of Marlborough; brother & sister-in-law Kenneth and Louise Pollard of Glastonbury; sister- in-law Elayne Pollard of Enfield and sister-in-law Mae Pollard of South Windsor. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother George Lettre and a grandson, William Pollard. Shirley leaves many friends and fond memories of Glastonbury along with a life time of camping and RV memories that started and grew continually over many campfires for over a period of 40 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Shirley's life will be Wednesday (October 19, 2011) at 10 a.m. in St Paul's Church, 2577 Main Street Glastonbury (attendees are asked to go directly to the church); Interment will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery Hopewell Road, Glastonbury. Shirley's family will receive relatives and friends in the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury Tuesday (October 18, 2011) from 4:30-7:30p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Shirley's name to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer, 85 Retreat Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106 or to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 628 Hebron Avenue, Suite 300, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
