ROBERGE, Roger J.

Roger J. Roberge, 85, of New Britain, CT, passed away peacefully Sunday, (December 18, 2011) at St. Mary Home in West Hartford, CT after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Roger was born in 1926 in New Britain, CT, and was the son of the late Ernest J. and Alphonsine (Pageau) Roberge. He worked as a Quality Control Manager for Hoke Manufacturing for several years. Roger served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. Roger enjoyed many years of square dancing with Nancy and beloved friends. He also loved traveling, singing, cooking and the game of hockey. Roger was always quick with a smile and was blessed with the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Most of all he cherished spending time with family, grandchildren and friends. He was a member of St. Jerome Church, New Britain, the Men's Club and Social Club of the church, Central Valley Square Dance Club and was also an honorary member of St. Jean Baptiste Societe. Roger leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of fifty-four years, Nancy (Napert) Roberge of New Britain, CT. He also leaves behind a large loving family of five children, their spouses and fourteen grandchildren, Dennis and Kristi Roberge, their children Aimee and Derek of Coventry, CT, Raymond and Constance Roberge, their children Thomas, Jeffery and Michelle of Higganum, CT, Donald and Christine Roberge, their children Steven, Nicole and Julianne of Newington, CT, Rita and Michael McGuinness, their children Brendan, Sarah and Erin of Bloomfield, CT and Diane and Stephen Joseffy, their children Christopher, Spencer and Tyler of Newington, CT, his brother Marcel Roberge and his wife Noella of New Britain, CT, his sister-in-law Adeline Roberge of Newington, CT and several nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by three brothers, Philip, Herman and Gilles Roberge and two sisters, Ernestine Miron and Lillian Madore. The Roberge family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Saint Mary Home for their compassionate and thoughtful care given to Roger and his whole family.
Funeral rites for Roger will be held Thursday December 22, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker / Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain, Ct. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Garden Mausoleum, St. Mary Cemetery, 1309 Stanley Street, New Britain, CT Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker / Farmingdale Funeral Home, Wednesday from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West - Exit 37 (Fienemann Road) right off exit - one mile down on right. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Home, 2021 Albany Avenue, West Hartford. CT.
