CROXALL, Ethel Sheffield

Ethel Sheffield Croxall, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, (January 28, 2012), at Hartford Hospital. Ethel was born in South Glastonbury, on February 15, 1923, daughter of the late Gladys and Stanley Sheffield. Ethel leaves her beloved husband of 56 years, Alphonsus D. Croxall of West Hartford; her daughters Susan Croxall Riba of South Glastonbury, Ginger Croxall of Putnam, and her son Craig Croxall of Milford. She also leaves two step-sons, Lance Croxall of Naperville, IL, Hal Croxall of Newington, and their spouses; plus eight step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren. Ethel was a loving wife and mother, raising her children in a warm and happy home. Ethel was known and loved by many for her caring and giving nature. She cherished the family traveling adventures and the memories of the Elmwood Community Church Campers. She was an avid reader, gardener, appreciated all kinds of music and treasured needle pointing. She enjoyed researching genealogy and was a member of the Emma-Hart-Willard Chapter, DAR. She loved cooking, baking and inviting new friends to dine at her table. She was acclaimed by all who knew her as an amazing hostess; all were welcome at her table! Ethel was a devoted member of the Elmwood Community Church for 55 years.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday February 4, 2012 at the Elmwood Community Church, 26 Newington Road, West Hartford, CT.
