DeLAWRENCE, Josaun Lee

Josaun Lee DeLawrence, 66, of Windsor and formerly of Hartford, beloved husband of Daisy (Owes) DeLawrence passed away on February 9, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Hartford, CT November 22, 1945 to the late Joseph James DeLawrence, Sr. and Willie L. (Tyson) DeLawrence. He earnestly worked as a nuclear engineer at Connecticut Yankee for over 35 years and eventually retired from there. He also worked at Combustion Engineering in Windsor, CT and finished his career as a consultant at Energy Solutions in Chicago, IL. He loved the Lord and lived a life that was faithful to the Word of God. His Christian faith was developed under the tutelage of the late Reverend D.S. Craig at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Hartford, CT where he dutifully served as a trustee and Superintendent of Sunday School for over 20 years. To be with his family, he later joined Hopewell Baptist Church of Hartford, CT where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Chairman of the Trustee board, and Director of United Youth For Christ. Besides his loving wife of 43 years, he is survived by his two children, Tracie (DeLawrence) Peterson of Windsor, CT, Jason L. DeLawrence of Providence, RI; mother, Willie L. DeLawrence of Hartford, CT; four siblings, Vivian DeLawrence of Hartford, CT, Bettie Daniel of Bloomfield, CT, Ann Walker of Charlotte, NC, and Joseph J. DeLawrence, Jr. of Brewton, AL; a son-in-law Robert W. Peterson, Sr.; a daughter-in-law Carlissa DeLawrence; special brothers and sisters-in-law Helen and Leroy Jones and Nettie Anderson and Jonathan Burrs; four grandchildren (Robert, Aaron, Alex, and Josaun); and a host of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Joseph James DeLawrence, Sr. of Hartford, CT and brother John H. DeLawrence of Alexandria, VA.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Hopewell Baptist Church 280 Windsor Ave., Windsor, CT at 11 a.m. with a calling hour at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. Please visit www.henrylfuquafuneralservice.com to send a condolence.
