REYNOLDS, Raymond J., Jr.
Raymond J. Reynolds Jr., 52, of Newington, died on Thursday (April 26, 2012). He was the beloved husband and best friend of Barbara (Austin) Reynolds for 27 years. Born and raised in Wethersfield, CT, son of Raymond J. Reynolds Sr. and Polly Reynolds of Ackworth, NH and Wethersfield. He resided in Newington, CT for the last 24 years with his family. Ray was a 1978 graduate of Wethersfield High School. He attended Eastern Connecticut State University and was a graduate of Briarwood College with a degree in Mortuary Science. Ray retired after 20 years of service from the Town of Newington Police Department as a Master Police Officer. He continued his career of public service, serving as a dispatcher for the Connecticut State Police at Troop K, in Colchester, CT. Besides spending time with his family and friends, he loved to ride his motorcycle, was an avid deer hunter since his youth, and spent many summers with his family and friends camping along the Connecticut shoreline. Ray was enthusiastic about life and enjoyed every moment. He was a friend to all and always ready to help someone in need. A loving and devoted father, he leaves his two children, Erik James of Newington and Private First Class Michael Austin Reynolds of Camp Pendleton, CA, and his dog Louie. He also leaves two brothers, Jeffrey Reynolds and his wife Leslie of Simsbury, CT, their children William and Abigail, and Andrew Reynolds and his son Aidan of Wethersfield, CT. On his father's side, nephew to Donald Reynolds of Claverack, NY. On his mother's side nephew to Ginger and James Manise, cousin to their daughter Amy, and godfather to her daughter Lilley. In addition, he leaves behind Don and Sandra Vogel of Newington, their daughter Erica of Newington; Cynthia and Richard Werner of Barkhamsted and her sons, Craig and Christopher MacKinnon of Florida; Rosemary and Greg Gordon of Texas and their son Brendan; as well as many other family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Ray's funeral services on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 beginning at 9 a.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a Eucharist Service at St. John's Episcopal Church, 679 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, with the Rev. Dr. William Veniot officiating, assisted by the Rev. Joseph Pace and Rev. John Rogers. Committal prayers will follow at West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, April 30, 2012, from 3-8 p.m., at Newington Memorial.
