JULIANO, Sophia Gina

Sophia Gina Juliano, 89, passed away on Monday, (May 28, 2012) at her home. She was a lifelong resident of New Britain. She was the daughter of Giovanni and Sophia (Monitto) Juliano. Sophia served as a plane spotter during World War II at Bradley Field Airport. She graduated from the Morse School of Business and was employed as a secretary in the Business Office of the Teachers College of Connecticut (now CCSU). She began her studies to be an elementary school teacher at the Sisters of Mercy Convent in Madison. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees, as well as her 6th and 7th year certificates in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State University. She taught for many years in New Britain Elementary Schools. Sophia is survived by her sister, Alphina Gary of New Britain, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Sebastian Juliano and her sister Mary Juliano.
