DeLISA, Peter M.
Peter M. DeLisa of Canton, CT passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on June 4th, 2012. In a musical career that spanned six decades he entertained many. In his lifetime his graciousness and generosity touched many more. A 1949 graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford, Peter's musical career started with the USO and tours of Europe, Japan and Korea. In the early 60s, with his brothers, he opened DeLisa's in Hartford which is remembered as the premier entertainment nightclub of its day. In the disco heyday of the 70s, Peter opened the very popular General Store Cafe in Canton. In the 80s and 90s he had an incredibly successful run at The Stonewell Restaurant in Farmington, performing with the very talented vocalist, Carol Wilusz. Peter is survived by his brother Thomas DeLisa and wife Mary Anne of Westbrook, Robert DeLisa and wife Wendy of Old Saybrook, and Michael DeLisa and wife Abigail of Westbrook; and thirteen nieces, nephews, grandnieces,grandnephews and great grandnephews: "Thanks, Uncle Pete."
There are no calling hours. On Saturday, June 9th at 11:30 a.m., there will be a Memorial Mass at The Church of St. Ann, 289 Arch Rd., Avon. A beautiful voice is gone from this world.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
