John Bonaguide, of Burlington, husband of the late Rosemary (Galaise) Bonaguide, passed away Sunday, (July 29, 2012). John was born on December 11, 1935 in New York City, NY, son of the late John Bonaguide and Blanche (Gokey) Bonaguide. He graduated from UConn, Class of 1960. His professional career included working at Aetna, Hartford, Excelsiour, Toronto, Canada, World Trade Center, New York City, Montegomery Ward, IL, and as a consultant for IBM in New York and Australia. John was a member of the Burlington Lions Club and Burlington Men's Club. As an active volunteer in Burlington, he was instrumental in developing the Little League field in the center of Burlington, the recreation area on Foote road and the tennis courts at the Town Hall. He also loved coaching the Little League Team, the Yankees, for many years and assisted with starting the girl's softball league. John enjoyed bowling with his friends at Aetna, traveling to Italy with his late wife, Rosemary, walking his dog, Marcy, with his late brother, Larry and Larry's dog, Rusty, helping his grandchildren pick raspberries and blueberries, doing crossword puzzles, discussing national politics, talking world history and following UConn football and basketball. John is survived by his children, Greg Bonaguide and his wife, Christy of Attleboro, MA, Cheryl Bonaguide and her husband, Ralph Zimbousky of Hartland, and Pam Bonaguide and her husband, Dennis O'Heron of Wayland, MA; brother, David Bonaguide and his wife, Rosemary of Goshen; sisters, Regina Seegers of Morris, Shirley Zimmerman and her husband Nate of Bantam, Donna Lee Bonaguide of Winsted, Susan Janco and her husband, Paul of New Hartford, Joyce Nesmith and her husband, Daniel of Westerly, RI, Antoinette Barrett of Harwinton, sister-in-law Jacqueline Bonaguide of Torrington; five grandchildren, Aaron Bonaguide, Hannah Bonaguide, Devon O'Heron, Cassidy O'Heron and Joss O'Heron; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Larry Bonaguide.
Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Unionville on Tuesday July 31 from 5-7 p.m. The funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Wednesday August 1 at 9:45 a.m. followed by the Funeral Liturgy at the Church of St. Patrick, Collinsville at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Burlington.
