CARUSO, Peter P.

Peter P. Caruso, 71, of Windsor, beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Grogan) Caruso, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, (September 18, 2012) at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. He was born May 1, 1941 in Tarrytown, NY to the late Michael and Harriet (Parnell) Caruso. At a young age Peter moved with his family to Hartford where he grew up and went on to attend UConn where he earned his B.S. in Mathematics. Peter served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. A resident of Windsor for 40 years, he was a parishioner of St. Gabriel Church. He worked in the insurance industry for many years, and was a Fellow, Life Management Institute. He spent time at CIGNA, IBM, and retired in 2002 from Orion Capital. Quiet by nature he was a devoted husband and father. He was an avid golfer, loved reading and spending time working on crossword puzzles. In addition to his wife of 41 years, Peter is survived by his children, Jennifer Suess and her husband Cameron "Doc" of Granby; Jonathan Caruso of Manchester; brothers, John Caruso of Avon; Ralph Caruso of Farmington, William Caruso of Arizona; dear friend, Joe Mancini, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and his sister.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, September 22, 9:15 a.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Church, Windsor. Burial with military honors will follow in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Friday, September 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Peter's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Arden Court in Farmington for their warm and compassionate care.
