FREEMAN, Brenda Benson
Brenda Benson Freeman, 51, much loved wife of Wayne Freeman, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, at Hospice of New York, in Jamaica Hills, Queens, NY, after a brief illness. Brenda grew up in West Hartford, was a Hall High graduate, and earned an Associates' Degree from Greater Hartford Community College. She lived in the area until six years ago, when she married Wayne and moved to Fresh Meadows, Queens, NY. She will be dearly missed. Besides Wayne, Brenda leaves her mother Marjorie Johnson and her step-father Melvin Johnson of Hartford. She also leaves her brother Mark Benson and his wife Elsamary and Mark's sons, George and Mark Benson of Orlando, FL; her sister Tracy Anderson and her husband Curt and their children, Kelsey, Lindsey, and Matthew of Glastonbury; her step-brother Douglas Johnson of Winder, Georgia; and her step-sister Lisa Santy and her husband Gerald and their children, Anna and Nina, of Kinnelon, New Jersey. Brenda also leaves her faithful guide dog Homer, who was by her side for twelve years. She was predeceased by her father George Robert Benson, Jr.
A funeral for Brenda will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Flushing, Queens, NY on Friday evening, November 30, at 7, with visiting hours at 6. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at her home church, Emanuel Lutheran Church, 311 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, Connecticut on Sunday afternoon, December 9, at 2 o'clock. Memorial contributions in Brenda's name may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in NYC, or The Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ.
