Michael Joseph URSO Obituary

URSO, Michael Joseph

Michael Joseph Urso, 68 of Concord, CA died surrounded by his loving family on December 1, 2012, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Michael was born in New Britain on July 31, 1944, the third child of the late Helen and Frank Urso. After graduating high school Mike joined the Air Force and served overseas ending in Germany with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After leaving the service he was employed as a grocery manager for Food Mart Corp. where he met the love of his life Patricia McCluskey whom he wed in September of 1975. In 1982 they were blessed with the birth of their first child Brendan and three years later graced by their daughter Brittany. In August of 1992 he moved with his family to Concord, CA to begin a new journey. He worked for Valent Corporation as a facilities manager while beginning his own cleaning company. One of his great joys in life was watching his children compete in sports and music activities. He also took advantage of the great weather by spending quality time outdoors with his family, including frequent trips to Sausalito, San Francisco, and camping at Dylan's Beach. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia "Pat", son Brendan, daughter Melinda, Janice and Hank Wellin, Albert Urso (Diana), Leslie Urso, Kathleen and James Zitani, Marianne and Rolando Tecun, Peter and Robin McCluskey, Maureen and Robert Reault, Thomas McCluskey (Karen), Paul and Jeanne McCluskey; 22 nieces and nephews and 11 grand-nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by his faithful companions Darby and Emma. He was preceded in death by his in-laws Thomas and Pauline McCluskey, and the twinkle of his eye that he has been reunited with, daughter Brittany Mary Urso. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff from Vitas who took such wonderful care of Mike during the last couple of months of his life. They all brought such comfort and joy to him and he held them all in very high regard.
