I am sorry that I did not know Wayne had passed until I read the article this past Sunday in the paper. He was a very remarkable man. I was very fond of him. I feel priveleged to have known him and learned a great deal from him. He was very resourceful always sharing with me information on shelters, soup kitchens, places that offered food to those in need. He also came in with many coupons with which he would do his shopping. One of his first purchases was an iron because his mother had taught him to make sure he had pressed clothes. He was very appreciative of the simple things in life. He made a living from collecting cans and bottles and was very proud to show his bank statement of the deposits he made from collecting those cans/bottles. I remember him having a separate pair of shoes just for collecting so he would not get his good shoes sticky. He also wore hand sanitizer on his belt while he collected. I visited him a few times at the Thrift Shop and he spoke very highly of the House of Bread and the Sisters and all they did for him. I am so happy that he ended up finding his way in life surrounded by people he truly cared for (that cared for him in return). His true character is evident by how much he gave back. He will be sincerely missed.
