LEONE, Thomas J.

Thomas J. Leone, 89, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 66 years of Mary Frances (Mazzarella) Leone, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (February 6, 2013). Born on August 25, 1923 in Manchester, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Conti) Leone. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Tom worked for Northeast Utilities for 44 years, retiring as a crew chief in 1987. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the BPOE Lodge #2308, both in Rocky Hill. Tom also looked forward to the weekly breakfasts with his coffee buddies every Wednesday at Town Line Diner. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his daughters, Joyce Ferreira and her husband Bob of Rocky Hill and Carolyn Clark of Centennial, CO; three adored grandchildren, Matthew Ferreira and his wife Gaetana of Rocky Hill, and Ashley and Shelby Clark, both of San Francisco, CA; his two cherished great-grandchildren who the were the loves of his life, Mia and Vincenzo Ferreira; two sisters, Lena Rosella and Josephine LeClerc and her husband Normand, all of Manchester and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, William and Anthony Leone; his sister, Mary Santini and his son-in-law, William Clark. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Emeritus of Rocky Hill and VITAS Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 11 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook St., Rocky Hill. Burial with military honors will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
