William "Bill" NELSON Obituary

NELSON, William "Bill" Howard

William "Bill" Howard Nelson, 82, of Bristol, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was born October 20, 1930 in Newington, the son of the late Axel and Jennie (Benson) Nelson. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his service, Bill was a dedicated employee for The Stanley Works working as a payroll manager for more than 40 years until his retirement. During this time, he met his wife Ginny (Sedon) Nelson. They married in 1959 and celebrated 50 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 2010. Bill and Ginny raised three children and as a family they would spend time traveling around the country camping. Bill and Ginny also took many cruises and vacations to Europe and elsewhere. In his free time, Bill could be found working on his cars or watching UCONN women's basketball. Most importantly, he loved his family and was such a caring person that you could always rely on him to be there if you needed anything. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. He leaves his children Jan Malley and her husband Guy of Bristol; Beth Bourret and her husband Gil of Bristol; and Matt Nelson of Bristol; his grandchildren Erin Malley of Bristol and Patrick Bourret of Bristol; a special friend and caregiver Pete, who was always there for Bill; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Elmer, Harold, George, John and Robert Nelson and his sister Irene Kelly.
