Edgar DRESNER Obituary

DRESNER, Edgar

Edgar "Ed" Dresner, a long time resident of Vernon, died March 7, 2013 in the loving company of his wife of 60 years, Fay, and his daughter Amy Brooks and her husband Russell Brooks. His son, Frank R. Dresner, had died in 2008. After serving four and a half years in the U.S. Army during WWII, Ed finished his studies at the University of Wisconsin and then earned a PhD in entomology from Ohio State University. A goodly portion of his life was devoted to working on agricultural projects to benefit third world countries, including Indonesia and Costa Rica. After his retirement Ed and Fay took numerous "shoestring" vacations to countries of the Far East. Ed was always an outdoor man who loved forests and mountains. He joined the Appalachian Mountain Club around 1973 and was an enthusiastic hiker, leader, trailmaker for the AMC, Forest & Park Association and the Northern Connecticut Land Trust. Ed was a wise, strong, resilient, hard working individual who cared deeply for family, and always provided them a safe and loving home. There will be no memorial service and his wish was to be cremated. His family is truly heartbroken to have lost him for ten years to Alzheimer's, and memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to , CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Ste. 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
