DeLUCO, Joseph J. Jr.

Joseph J. DeLuco, Jr., 81, of Rocky Hill and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, (March 14, 2013) at Hartford Hospital. Joseph was the loving husband of fifty-two years of the late Mary A. (Dallessio) DeLuco. Born in Hartford on January 7, 1932, a son of the late Joseph J. and Mary (Barile) DeLuco, Sr., he had been a resident of East Hartford for forty-three years prior to moving to Rocky Hill nine years ago. Joe was a proud veteran of the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a long-time faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. Prior to his retirement, Joe was employed by the United States Postal Service, working as a Postal Clerk at the Main Street Post Office in East Hartford for over thirty years. Joe was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #1893, Manchester and a former member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #2063, East Hartford. He was also a member of the Rocky Hill Stepney Seniors and the Rocky Hill Setback Card Club. Joe enjoyed playing baseball for many years and was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees, Seattle Seahawks, and WWE Professional Wrestling. However, most of all, Joe was a family man and proud grandfather. Known as "Dude" by his two grandchildren, Joe was always seen at his grandchildren's activities, such as sporting events, cheerleading competitions, and school functions. Besides his beloved wife and parents, Joe was predeceased by a brother, John DeLucco of Florida, and two sisters, Frances Maxfield and Sarah Sitaro both of Newington. Joseph is survived by his two devoted daughters, Jana M. Batty and her husband, Dana, of East Hartford, Tina M. Spagna and her husband, John, of Marlborough; and two adored grandchildren, Kevin Batty and Karen Batty both of East Hartford. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, former co-workers and customers, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday (March 19th) at 9:45 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at Hillside Cemetery, (Section E), East Hartford.
