DAVIS, Donald L.

Donald L. Davis, 88, of Middletown, CT died April 2, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. He was born December 4, 1924 in Bemidji, MN, and resided in Newington, West Hartford, and Stuart, Florida, before returning to Connecticut in 2006. Donald was predeceased in 2004 by his wife Arlene, and in 1988 by his daughter, Jane. E. Davis. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Russell, Glenn, Earl, Art and Everett. Donald is survived by his son, Don Davis and his wife Joyce; four grandchildren; Lee Mathena and his wife Ethel, Jeff Mathena, Kristopher Davis and Tricia Davis. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; Derek, Ashley, Naomi, Charlie and Sammy; his brothers, Gerry, Tommy, Robert and Bill; his sister, Roberta; many nieces and nephews. Don is also survived by a very special companion, Naomi Brede, with whom he spent time in Connecticut and Florida, and had a special and loving friendship. A Certified Kitchen Designer during his entire life; he owned and operated Bradley Kitchens in West Hartford for many years and continued this career during his years in Florida. Don was a World War II US Navy Veteran, was a member of First Lutheran Church in New Britain and the National Kitchen & Bath Association.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday 2PM at Carlson Funeral Home 45 Franklin Square, New Britain followed by burial, with military honors, in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are Tuesday 1 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Another memorial service will also be held at a later date. Donald's family wishes to thank the staff of the VA Healthcare System of Newington and West Haven, particularly Cisalee Harrell and Mary Martin-O'Brien.
