He was also formerly employed for the Veterans Administration and the Dept. of Defense. He later was employed as a real estate broker which was an occupation he thoroughly enjoyed. Besides his loving wife Claire; Sam leaves his three sons, Paul Picone of Palm Coast, FL, William Picone of Lauderdale City, FL, and Samuel Picone and his wife Ginger of Somers; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by a son, Stephen Picone; a brother, Angelo Picone; and a sister, Catherine Golemba.

It's with a deep sadness that I read about Sam's passing. I knew Sam for many years in the 76th Division and will always remember him as a kind and light-hearted soul. I can still recall him calling " Hey Lynchy" whenever he wanted me. I last saw Sam in 1978 when we both sent to summer duty at Fort Dix. This is a sad day for me.
