Charlotte Mae (Drown) PECK Obituary

PECK, Charlotte Mae (Drown)

Mrs. Charlotte Mae (Drown) Peck of Bradford, VT and formerly a resident of Manchester for over 50 years, passed away on Sunday, (May 19, 2013) after 92 eventful, active and mostly healthy, happy years. Charlotte was born on May 8, 1921 in Springfield, VT to the late Agnes (LaFleuer) and Ivers Drown. As a young child she and her family moved to East Harford, and she became a proud product of the East Hartford school system, graduating from East Hartford High School in 1939. She went on to work at Colt Firearms. Charlotte was predeceased by two loving husbands, former Manchester, CT Police Officer Raymond J. Peck, her husband of 49 years until his death in 1998 and Stanley Soderlind, her husband of four years, who died tragically at the young age of 30 in 1946. Both men were decorated World War II Army veterans. She was also predeceased by all of her siblings, including brothers Lenwood ("Buster") Drown, Ivers Drown, Jr. and Lester Drown. She also had a sister, Irene (Drown) Fisher. Charlotte was the proud, loving mom of 'her four boys' who will greatly miss her. She is survived by her first son Richard Soderlind Peck and his longtime companion, Susan Bradford of Bradford, VT who were her primary, devoted care providers since Charlotte returned to her beloved VT in 2005. She was predeceased by her second son, Robert Ivers Peck, who died after a long illness in 2009. She is also survived by her third son, Raymond Bruce Peck and his wife Susan Malo and her fourth son Roger Arthur Peck and his wife Annette all of Manchester. Other survivors include; her four dear grandchildren, Josette Silvers and her husband Eric of Montpelier, VT, Sarah Peck Chamberlain of Meriden, Alyssa Peck and Jeremy Peck both of Manchester; and four great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law; Joseph Peck of New Port Richey, FL and Lyman Peck and his wife Arlyne of Glastonbury. Charlotte also had many dear nieces, nephews, longtime friends and former neighbors. In particular, she is survived by best friends of nearly 60 years, Dorothy and William Liggett of Vernon. Charlotte also remained close with her loving, former daughters-in-law; Debbie Green of Coventry, Colleen Peck of Norwalk and Roberta Peck of Lebanon, NH. Charlotte had a long, successful professional career as a medical secretary and office manager of nearly 30 years for the late David M. Caldwell, Sr. and David M. Caldwell, Jr., two prestigious father and son physicians and surgeons in Manchester. She was a longtime member of Manchester's Christian Women's Club and Center Congregational Church in Manchester. Charlotte was also an avid gardener, traveler, animal lover and great supporter of her family's many activities. Charlotte's family expresses a very special and heartfelt 'thank you' to the wonderful, compassionate and professional staff at The Oasis Home in Bradford, VT, especially Sandy, Cynthia, Chris and their beloved 4-legged pal Turbo. They truly made the last three years of our mom's life joyful and eased her and our family through recent rough times. We love you guys! Also, we want to acknowledge The Visiting Nurse Association of NH and VT for the excellent care they provided to Charlotte over the past few months.
