SCALES, Mary T. (Cusack)
Mary (Maureen) T. Scales, 75, died peacefully at home on May 24, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born on June 22, 1937 in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Cusack. Beloved wife of the late James Scales, loving mother of Eileen Case (Glastonbury), Maureen Werbeck (Montgomery Village, MD), James Scales, Jr. (deceased) Susan Scales (Glastonbury), Joan Scales (deceased) and Kathleen Scales (New York, NY). She is survived by sons-in-law Arthur Werbeck, Jr. and Jon Case; sisters Patricia McCoy and Virginia Schobinger; brothers-in-law John McCoy, Michael Schobinger and Joseph Gilligan; sisters-in-law Mary Clifford and Nancy Scales; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. For 25 years, Maureen and her husband and children were proprietors of the Woodstock Pub in Woodstock, NY, which they successfully built into a loved and cherished landmark for both tourists to the town and its residents. She was held in great esteem by her business associates and employees for her determination and unflagging work ethic as well as her generosity and compassion. After retiring in 1998, Maureen dedicated her time and energy to family, friends and work as a hospital volunteer, and she was a proud member of the Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury. Maureen's greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren, and she also cherished the time she spent in her beloved home in Port St. Lucie, FL.
