EBERLE, Leon W.

Leon W. Eberle, 84, of Enfield, beloved husband of the late Louise (Morin) Eberle for 48 years entered into his eternal peace on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Born in Sasakwa, OK on October 1, 1928, Leon was the fifth of six children of the late Sarah (Danley) Brown and Albert Eberle. In his youth Leon lived in many places throughout Pittsburg County, Sasakwa, and Sand Springs, OK attending one room school houses. He was forever proud of his Oklahoma accent. Leon served his country honorably for 21 years joining the Army Air Corps in 1946. Stationed at Lawson Field, Fort Benning, GA, Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Westover AFB, MA, McGuire AFB, NJ, Yokota AFB, Japan, Tinker AFB, OK, McChord AFB, WA, Da Nang AFB, Vietnam and retired at Travis AFB, CA at the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 3 years and Hallmark Cards for 15 years. Leon was an extraordinary loving husband, father and grandpa. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Leon was talented in woodworking, he loved fishing, fixing just about anything and gardening and he always enjoyed ripe red tomatoes by July 4th. He loved traveling, especially long road trips across the United States. Leon's greatest joy was his grandchildren. He is survived by his two daughters and their families, Faith and Jim Scavetta and Carolyn Eberle-Rogers and Stephen Rogers, all of Enfield. Leon was beloved grandpa to Jared Eberle, Kristina Rogers, Noah Scavetta and the late Hope Scavetta. He was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Edward and Alvin Eberle and also two sisters, Millie Wilson and Flo Talley. Leon's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Blair Manor who gave such loving care to their father these past four months.
Visitation hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd. Enfield. Family and friends will gather at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Leete-Stevens for a procession to Holy Family Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal with military honors will follow at St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery. Donations may be made to Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield, CT 06082.
