Albin G. DEMBOWSKI Obituary

DEMBOWSKI, Albin G.

Albin G. Dembowski, 99, of Manchester, CT died peacefully at Crestfield Nursing Home on June 29, 2013. Albin was born on April 29, 1914 in Wisner, Michigan, the eldest son of Jake Dembowski and Mary (Permoda) Dembowski. Albin was raised in Bay City, Michigan. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan, obtaining degrees in Engineering Physics in 1937 and Electrical Engineering in 1938. Shortly after his graduation Albin relocated to Connecticut and obtained employment at Hamilton Standard where he enjoyed a 40 year career as an engineer, working on many projects including the design and development of systems for the military. Albin married the former Alice Tracy in 1948 and they remained together until her death in 2010. Albin enjoyed woodworking and was a skilled cabinetmaker. He also enjoyed tinkering with electronics in the several workshops that he maintained in his basement. He was a long-time resident of Bloomfield, Connecticut and was proud of his home gardens there. Albin is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Santese and her husband Michael. The family would like to express their appreciation to the residents and management of White Oaks in Manchester, where Albin lived for the past three years, for providing a home where he was comfortable and welcome. They would also like to convey their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Crestfield Convalescent Home in Manchester for the exemplary care Albin received during the final months of his life.
