Edward A. SCHNABEL Obituary


Edward Alan Schnabel, of Pleasant Hill CA, formerly of Hartford, Newington, East Hartford and Vernon, CT, beloved husband of Lucy (Mucha) father of Brian J. and Craig E., father-in-law to Maria , grandfather to Nicholas and Isabella, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 10, 2013. Born August 22, 1945 in New Britain, CT, he was preceded in death by his parents Edward H. and Luella (Muller), brother, Arthur Schnabel , uncle Harold and aunt Vernal (Massow) Schnabel and uncle Wilbur and aunt Clara (Schultz) Muller. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in West Hartford, CT for many years. Edward, better known as "Dusty" to his family and Connecticut friends, was a 1964 graduate of Weaver High School. He attended Morse College and graduated from Husson College, Bangor, ME in 1968. Dusty served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. He resumed his career at The Travelers Insurance Company for whom he worked for 26 years. In 1989 he moved the family to California where Edward was Finance Director of the Western Home Office for the Employee Benefits Division until 1993 when the Division was sold. In 1994, he and his wife owned and operated a travel agency until retiring in 2005. Throughout his life, Dusty was an avid traveler. He also enjoyed Hawaiian Music, playing golf, and spending time with his granchildren, especially his best buddy and Lil princess, Isabella. Besides his family in California, Dusty leaves behind his step-mother, Rachel Schnabel; his mother-in-law, Jadwiga Mucha; his sister-in-law, Barbara Zuchowski Schnabel; brothers-in- law George and Mark Mucha, and nieces Alexandra Papazoglou, Erin Tanucci , Sydney and Olivia Mucha; and cousins, Judith Anderson and Warren, Robert, and John Muller. This lovely and generous man touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
