Rocco PARISI Obituary

Rocco Parisi,82, of Simsbury, passed away on August 26, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 18, 1930 in Morristown, NJ to Guisseppe and Vita Parisi. Rocky was the second oldest of seven children. He was part of a very close-knit family during the depression. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Navy. He was married for six years and the marriage produced two sons. He was an ardent baseball fan and volunteered as a Little League coach for many years. He worked for over 30 years at Strahman Valves in NJ and after his "retirement" volunteered full-time, for many more years at the local Rent-A-Wreck in Morristown. In 2006 he moved to Simsbury, CT to be near to his two grandchildren. His most recent pride and joy was his great-grandson, Philip. Rocky was a die-hard NY Yankees fan and delighted in ribbing his neighbors of the Red Sock persuasion. He took his own lumps when the tables were turned and developed many close friendships during the seven years he spent in CT. He was known as "Pop-Pop" to all of the local children and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Parisi and Nicholas Parisi and Nicholas' wife Shawn Parisi, his grandchildren Alexander Parisi and Victoria Parisi, his great-grandson Philip Parisi, his sisters Denice Padula and her late husband, Joe Padula , Anne Quenault and her husband Ed Quenault and his brothers Paul Parisi and his wife Mary Parisi and Ben Parisi and his wife Phyllis Parisi, and sisters-in-law Ginny Parisi and Edythe Parisi. He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Frank Parisi and Joe Parisi. He has too many nieces and nephews to mention. Many thanks to the McLean Hospice and to his beloved caregiver from Companions and Homemakers for over two years, Nancy.
Visitation will be held at Carmon Funeral Home and Family Center of Avon, 301 Country Club Rd.
