Obituary Condolences

Earl Abram Ellrod, III, 52, of Cromwell, beloved husband of Sue (Martindale) Ellrod, died peacefully on Monday, (September 2, 2013), at Hartford Hospital. He was born on May 8, 1961, Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Gretchen (Schofer) Ellrod and the late Earl A. Ellrod Jr. Earl was a graduate of Carrick High School with the Class of 1979 and went on to graduate from the Triangle Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, PA. Earl was currently working as an engineer with Edwards & Zuck. Earl was the co-founder and current president of the Connecticut Chapter of American Society of Plumbing Engineers. He had a passion for the Navy, submarines and ships and enjoyed building high end models. Earl was a self-proclaimed expert in Napoleonic History. An avid sports fan, he was dedicated to the Pittsburgh teams; Steelers, Pirates and the Penguins. A kind, caring and devoted husband, son, brother and friend he will be greatly missed by all. Along with his wife Sue of 25 years and his mother, Gretchen, he leaves his brother, Ryan Ellrod and his wife Amy of Charlotte, NC, his sister, Erin Ellrod of Pittsburgh, PA, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Kathy Martindale of Windsor, his brothers-in-law, Steve Martindale and Doug Martindale and his wife Kerri and their children, Rory, Corinne, Rhys, and Caeden all of Windsor and his Aunt, Madeline "Mimi" Smith of Manchester, NH.
