KANE, Agnes (DeVylder)
Agnes (DeVylder) Kane, 89, passed away Tuesday, (October 1, 2013) at St. Mary Home in West Hartford, embraced in the love of her children. She was predecesed by her beloved husband, Joseph E. Kane in 2011. Agnes was born May 30, 1924 in Cheshire daughter to the late Arthur and Mary Louise (Acquette) DeVyder, the youngest of eight siblings. She graduated from Wilby High School, Waterbury in 1942 and was employed by the Waterbury Savings Bank until she started raising her family in 1952. She returned to the workforce in 1971 and retired as a head teller at Burritt Saving Bank in December 1982. Agnes devoted her life to her family and was always there for her children and grandchildren. Visiting Grammy meant homemade pie and for the young ones, a seat on her lap for a story. Later in life, watching her great-grandchildren brought smiles to her face. Agnes is survived by a daughter and four sons, Shelia Dubinsky and her husband Jay of Plantsville with whom she made her home until moving to St. Mary Home in September 2012, Edward Kane and his wife Cathy of Farmington, Joseph and his wife Jean, Kevin and his wife Debbie all of New Britain and Gerard Kane and his wife Kathryn of Severn, MD. Agnes was the loving grandmother of 16 grandchildren, Jayme, Michael, Dale, and Jared Dubinsky, and Jennifer, James, Anthony, Timothy, Frank, Patrick, Kathleen, Conor, Brianne, Liam, Michelle, and Abraham Kane, two step-grandchildren; Alexandra and Nicole Mastors and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Cecelia Cavanaugh and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers; Arthur, Francis, Joseph, Edgar, and Alfred DeVylder, her sister Helen Krueger and her beloved grandson Steven Kane. The Family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary Home-West One, for the loving care given to Agnes during her stay there and for the kindness and compassion extended to our family during her final days.
