Doris Blinn Obituary


Doris (Rioux) Blinn, 85, of East Hartford and formerly of Rockledge, FL, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 18, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Doris was the loving wife of 65 years to the late Harold N. Blinn. Born in East Hartford on April 13, 1928, a daughter of the late Louis T. and Eva (Dube) Rioux, she had resided in East Hartford for most of her life before retiring to Florida for 17 years and returning to East Hartford in 2009. She was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1946 and was employed by Travelers Insurance Company, Hartford for several years as an Insurance Clerk. A devout catholic, Doris was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford, an avid reader, and a dedicated loyal fan of the UCONN Women's basketball team. Doris is survived by a son, Gary L. Blinn and his wife, Patricia, of Glastonbury; two daughters, Elaine Aubrey of Warwick, RI, and Jan Marie Weston and her husband, Thomas, of Coventry; six grandchildren, Michael Dennen, Sarah Blinn, Joseph Blinn and Jake Mossman, Matthew and Gregory Weston; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Suzanne Mossman of Springfield, MA; a granddaughter, Teri Dennen of Windham; and three brothers, Louis "Bucky" Rioux of Glastonbury, Henry Rioux of Florida, and Richard Rioux of Ellington. Funeral services will be Friday (November 22nd) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Friday morning). Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, (Section C), East Hartford. Doris's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday (November 21st) from 4-7 pm at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
