Thaddeus Budney Obituary

Thaddeus "Ted" Budney, Sr., 95, of Newington, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Lewis) Budney for 67 years. Born in New Britain, he was a lifelong Newington resident and member of St. Mary's Church. Ted was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. Along with his family, he founded Atlantic Machine Tool Works of Newington, where he served as vice president until his retirement. Ted enjoyed spending summers with his family at Sagamore Terrace in Westbrook. He had a great love for horses and enjoyed riding. A loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves his son Ted Budney, Jr., and his wife Nancy of Rocky Hill; his daughter Liz Tyrol of Glastonbury; two grandchildren, Michael Hulme and his wife Roni of Berlin, and Christa O'Leary and her husband Leif of Hingham, MA; and four great grandchildren, Bailey, Kiley, Clare and Brenna O'Leary. He also leaves his brother Michael Budney of Berlin; sister Sophie Krzyczynski of Newington; sister-in-law Gloria Lewis of Farmington; several nieces and nephews; and his extraordinary caregiver Grace Kaminska of Newington. He was predeceased by his sister Adweja Budney and brother Henry Budney. His family would like to express its gratitude to the staff of VNA Healthcare, especially Wioletta and Sandy.
