Walter Alden Beach Obituary

Walter Alden Beach Sr., 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Whitefield, NH in 1924 to Arthur V. and Helen (Cram) Beach, he made his home in Connecticut for the past 57 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Genevieve (O'Hara) Beach; as well as three of his siblings, Ruth Beach, Mary Ann Beach Fournier, and Ellsworth "Red" Beach. He is survived by his sons, Thomas and his wife Sheri of West Hartford, Walter and his wife Martha (Marcy) of Suffield, and four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jeffrey, Catherine and Meghan, and by his brother, Robert Beach and his wife Donna, of North Attleboro, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews. He leaves his beloved companion of nearly a decade, Mildred Hawley, her daughters, Christine and Al LaRoque and Donna and Harry Kutno, and their extended families with whom he thoroughly enjoyed many a Sunday dinner. Walter served in the US Army Air Force as a Tech. Sergeant, 15th Emergency Rescue Squadron in the Southwest Pacific Theater during WWII. After the war, he graduated from Bryant College with a degree in Business Administration. He was the founder and President of Hydro-Honing Laboratories in East Hartford, Connecticut, a family-owned company which now does business as Peening Technologies of Connecticut, run by his sons, and Peening Technologies of Georgia, run by his nephew, Richard Brooks. He was truly one of the "Greatest Generation" in his work ethic, his steady nature, his honor, and his love for his family. He loved the Red Sox, family dinners, and reading histories of the Civil War. He was the New Hampshire granite that his family was built upon. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Friends and family may call Friday, June 6, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
