Bob Vojtek Obituary


Vojtek, Bob, 95, of Farmington, husband of Edith (Murphree) Vojtek, passed away June 16th at his home. Born Aug. 21, 1918 in Czechoslovakia, he was the son and stepson of the late Marie Vojtkova and Joseph Vojtek. Bob was a very talented painter. He attended night school to further his skill in painting prior to the start of WWII. In 1940, Bob became a naturalized citizen and was singled out and publicly complimented on his patriotic achievements. When WWII began, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and saw action in Africa, Sicily, Italy, Austria, France and Germany. Sgt. Vojtek was wounded when crossing the Rhine River in Germany, receiving his first of two purple hearts. Upon returning home, Bob started work in the Eureka, CA public school system. During his 30+ years in the system, he held many positions before deciding to retire in 1978. Besides his wife, Bob leaves his son and daughter-in-law Robert and RoseAnne Vojtek and their daughters Caroline and Holly O'Brien, of Bristol, CT. Bob was predeceased by his sister Vlasta Vojtek and his nephew Ivanic. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held Monday, June 23 at 10:30 am at the CT Veteran's Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.
