James L. Beley

1939 - 2014

James Levi Beley, 75, of Somers, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 with his caring family by his side. Born in Hartford on April 22, 1939 he was raised in East Hartford and graduated from East Hartford High School, Class of 1957. James was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was a self-employed contractor and previously the former owner and operator of Trojan Pools in Ellington. James was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening acres of farmland (especially vegetables). He was also a devoted and loyal fan of the New York Yankees. James is survived by two loving daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Beley and her significant other, David Fay, of Cromwell with whom he resided during his illness, and Karen A. Beley of Cromwell. He also leaves his brother, Peter Beley of East Hartford; four special granddaughters, Meagan Finnemore, Kylee Staron, Caitlin Finnemore, and Amanda Staron all of Cromwell; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. A graveside service with military honors will be Friday (July 11th) at 11:30 am at St. Mary's Cemetery, (Section J-2), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in the memory of James may be made to a favorite charity of the donor's choice. The D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
