Thelma Christofferson Obituary



Thelma Ethel (Symonds) Christofferson passed into the arms of her Savior on July 14, 2015. She was predeceased by her first husband Stanley B. Symonds of Stafford Springs, CT; her second husband Rev. Chauncey A. Christofferson, of Stanwood, WA; her parents, Arthur and Ethel Coker; and her brother, Len, and sister, Norma Childs, all of Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, she met and married Stanley during World War II, moving to Stafford Springs, CT in 1945. She married Chauncey after a letter writing romance and moved to Stanwood, WA in 2008 where she resided at Josephine Sunset Home until her death. Thelma is survived by her son, Gary Symonds and his wife Peg of Stafford Springs, CT; three nieces and one nephew of Australia; and the members of Chauncey's family. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Everett, WA. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on August 8, 2015 at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 8 Church St., Stafford Springs, CT 06076 Attention: Mission Shares.
