Robert Caulfield Obituary



Robert Lee Caulfield, of Old Saybrook CT, died after a long illness on November 8 at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown CT. Born in Baltimore, MD on Sept. 25, 1923, he was the son of Dr. Ernest Caulfield and Margaret France Caulfield of West Hartford,CT where he grew up.He graduated from the Kingswood School,'41 and attended Harvard University class of '45, Harvard Law School Class of '49. He then joined the Navy in 1942 and served in South Pacific achieving the rank of Lt JG . His early working years were with the government in Washington, and later he became a teacher in the Fairfield County CT school system. Robert is survived by his wife, Sharon Bonner Caulfield of Old Saybrook, sons David Caulfield and his wife Kathy of Englewood, FL and Sam Caulfield and his wife Christine of Houston, TX along with three grandsons, Avery, Evan and Brian, 3 step children, Deborah, Rick and Stephen and their spouses., His first wife, Jane Adam predeceased him. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory can be sent to Old Saybrook Historical Society, 350 Main St Old Saybrook, CT 06475 or Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit, 28 Crescent St Middletown, CT 06457.
