Joseph Truszkowski

Joseph Truszkowski, 72, died peacefully on April 30th. Born and raised in New Britain, he was a resident of Plainville for the past 50 years. He is a graduate of New Britain High School and attended Husson College for two years. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and graduated from the "University of Parris Island." After the Marines, he served as a Farmington Police Officer for four years. He retired from the Farmington Post Office in 2000 after 30 years. Joe also served in the Army Reserve for six years. He was active in the Knights of Columbus in Plainville and coached their softball team to a state championship in 1977. A lifelong Yankees fan, he is looking forward to meeting Billy Martin. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, MaryAnn, his mother Viola of New Britain, and he is predeceased by his father, Joseph Stanley Truszkowski. He leaves two daughters, JoAnn Truszkowski, of Bristol CT, and Barbara Truszkowski of Brooklyn NY and her husband Jon Ottomanelli. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Truszkowski, of Bristol and several nephews and a niece. Funeral services in honor of Joseph's life will begin on Wednesday, May 4 at 9 AM from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad Street, Plainville. Burial will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 3 from 5 to 7 PM.
