Born in 1929 in Derby, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Clynch) Lane. Elaine studied at St. Raphael School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse, working at various nursing homes over the years. After moving to Colchester from Cheshire in 1973, she worked for Liberty Hall (now Liberty Specialty Care) until her retirement in 1987. On Sept. 5, 1953, she and Richard were married at St. Mary's Church in Branford. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, raising eight children, before he predeceased her on January 12, 2006. She was a communicant of St. Andrew Church in Colchester and was a member of the Colchester Farmers Club. She enjoyed reading, sharing a meal or a cup of "tea" with anyone who stopped in. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and was affectionately know as a "Liggily" to her 14 grandchildren, family and friends. She is survived by eight children (and their spouses), Judith and Edward Taranto of Lebanon, Richard and Lori Eifler, Jr., David Eifler, Mary-Jo and Paul Withee, Nancy and David Haggerty, Kurt and Annette Eifler, Deborah and Mark Gallagher and Bonnie Eifler, all of Colchester; 14 grandchildren, Rachel and Danielle Taranto, Jason, Jacquelyn and Cody Eifler, Jaymie and Logan Withee, Kylie Haggerty, Benjamin, Julia and Sarah Eifler, Anthony Tamburrino, Trevor Tuck and Brianne Gallagher; four siblings (and their spouses), Marilyn and Jerry Dooley of Sarasota, FL, Frank and Eileen Lane of So. Windsor, Sharon and Sal Adinolfi of East Haven and Denise and George Adam of Venice, FL; and numerous extended family members and friends. The family will receive guests from 9:30 to 11:30 AM Saturday at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. The celebration of the Funeral Liturgy will follow at 12 PM at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Avenue, Colchester, with Fr. Michael Giannitelli, officiating. Burial will be private in the New St. Andrew Cemetery, Colchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
