Aida Rovetti White

Obituary Condolences

Aida Rovetti White, 104, of White's Point, Waterford, died on Tuesday, (January 8, 2002) at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, New London. She was born on August 29, 1897, in Waterford, the daughter of Carlo and Catherine Mazzoni Rovetti. She married Nelson C. White on January 30, 1928, at his residence in Waterford. He predeceased her on November 21, 1989. She was also a founding trustee of the Eugene O'Neill Memorial Theatre Center in Waterford. The White House Facility at the center is named after her and her husband Nelson. Mrs. White was the founder of the Waterford School System Hot Lunch Program. She was also a member of the Brazier Guild and Zonta International. Mrs. White is survived by her sons, George C. and Nelson H. White, both of Waterford; six grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Henry C. White; her brothers, Andrew, Annibal and Charles Rovetti; and her sister, Martha Rovetti. A Mass of Christian Burial will he held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Squire St., New London. Burial will follow in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford. Calling hours will be held on Friday, 5-7 p.m. at the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Eugene O'Neill Memorial Theatre Center, 305 Great Neck Rd., Waterford, CT 06385 or to the Florence Griswold Museum, Lyme St., Old Lyme, CT 06371.
