MALONEY, Thomas James Thomas James Maloney, 90, beloved husband for 62 years of Rita (Ferrier) Maloney of West Hartford died peacefully Tuesday (December 19, 2006) at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Hartford, November 22, 1916 to the late John J. and Maria (Durkin) Maloney. He was a member of the Hartford Squires, The Irish American Home Society, sang with the Barber Shoppers, and was also known as the resident humorist. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and a champion pool player. Tom worked as an operations foreman at Grey Manufacturing. He retired from the Hartford Board of Education as a maintenance supervisor in 1981. Tom, his two brothers, the Pinto Brothers and Bobby Duffy chartered the Frog Hollow Boy's Club. The Maloney brothers had a popular comedy act in the 1930's and 40's. He attended school at the Immaculate Conception, Hartford Public High School, and Greater Hartford Community College. He was a regular member and volunteer at the Elmwood Community Center and the West Hartford Senior Center. He is survived by his five children, John and Ann (Coiro) Maloney of Enfield, Annmarie Maloney of West Hartford, Kathleen (Maloney) and Rafael Garbalosa of New Britain, James and Gail (Gillespie) Maloney of Enfield, Thomas Maloney, companion, Sandra Libby and her daughter, Carlene of Cromwell; 12 grandchildren, Timothy and A.J. Garbalosa, Michael and Tracy Maloney, Richard Garbalosa, Shawn Maloney, Kevin and Kristin Maloney, Leah (Maloney) and Gary Brooks, Erin Maloney, Ryan Garbalosa, Scott Maloney, Heather Maloney, Stephanie Maloney, and Amanda Maloney; 11 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Shelley, John Paul, Kolbe, Theresa, Elizabeth, and Benedict Maloney, Robert, Amber, Ashley and Devon Garbalosa; his brother and sister-in-law, William P. and Gertrude Maloney of Meriden and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his son, Robert R., his sister, Anna Barr and his brother, John "Joe." The family would like to thank Hughes Health and Rehabilitation Center for their helpful and caring staff during his stay there. His funeral is Saturday 9 a.m. from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Mark the Evangelist, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
